SORG Newsletter 2   21 July 2021

Greetings to all on the Seabrook Action Group mailing list, and thank you for all the support and encouragement we have received to date.    Our mailings are now going out to over 100 households.

As many of you know, communication with the Seabrook Orchards Management Company (“SOMC”) has been difficult, and as far as we are aware there have been no responses to any questions about the invoices issued.   We are, however, hopeful that we will soon be able to start a dialogue with the assistance of some other parties we have enlisted.

Our purpose for any meeting with SOMC, at this stage,  is simply to determine a clear understanding of the contractual arrangements between the SOMC and Bloor; their expectations for the future of the estate; their timescales regarding forthcoming activity; and what all this means for residents.

In planning for such a meeting, it occurred to us that we need to be able to represent your views with some degree of authority and hence the purpose of this mailing is to garner your support in setting up this group more formally.

As part of this process to formalise our position, we will  set up a properly constituted (and newly named) “Seabrook Orchards Residents Group” which has authority to speak on behalf of Seabrook residents.

We thus propose the following steps:

(a)    Adoption of a simple constitution, setting out the remit of the group  (a draft is available – let us know if you would like a copy);

(b)   Andrew Sails, Tracey Brady and Gordon Edwards, who have been spearheading this project to date, to act pro tem as officers of the group, pending elections;

(c)    Door to door leafleting of all homes in Phase 1 and Phase 2 during early August, publicising the new group and inviting all residents to an inaugural AGM;

(d)   AGM to be held in September with election of a committee.

We hope those of you receiving this mailing will be supportive of this plan.  We welcome hearing from you if you have any comments or concerns – but could you please respond by close of play on Friday 30 July?

We look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your ongoing support.
